New Projects for the New Year!

New fabric is piling into the shop!  I am definitely running out of room but I love inspiring everyone with new projects to work on.  Unfortunately I don't have the time I think I am going to have to make samples so I am posting some kits I have made up with the new fabric that has come in.

First I have Moroccan Tile made with Stonehenge fabrics from Northcott.

Also, new is "Garden View" using Wild Flowers from Northcott.  I have made the quilt but haven't had it machine quilted yet.

What I really need to be working on are baby quilts.  My daughter,Lindsay and her husband, Jared are expecting identical twin boys in January.  They will be brothers to 17 month old Ethan.   She is going to be busy so  I hope to go up to help her for a few weeks so I had better get organized.  Also, my boss at my dental hygiene job  has sold his dental practice to another dentist so I will have to get used to some changes there.  We have worked together for 26 years.
I will try to post some other new projects that I have been working on real soon.

Snap Happy II Bags

I just finished making 6 of these cute little bags from the Snap Happy II pattern for my daughter to give as gifts to her friends.  Some of them had travelled to Paris, France a few years ago with a school group.  I know that the Eiffel Towers are sideways but this way I could get 6 out of 1 yard of main fabric and 1 yard of contrasting fabric.  Using the metal measuring tapes for the "snap" opening is really cool!

"Winter Woolies" Flannel for Our Cold Winter Nights!

I love how this quilt turned out!  You never know when you use a combination of colours and patterns.
I used the pattern "Hopscotch" by the Quilt Patch (Canadian designer) and Maywood's Warm Winter Woolies flannel.  All you need is 12 fat 1/4's. ( I used a few more as I use yard fat 1/4's not metric fat 1/4's).  A narrow sashing, binding, backing and you are done! Kits are $62.00.(3.6m or 4yds of backing not included).  Size:  56" x 65". Kits ( including 15 fat 1/4's, binding and sashing) will be available soon.  Waiting for some more flannels to arrive.

Handbag Using Texture Magic

I got a chance to use a new product "Texture Magic" on a handbag.   It is really simple to use and adds a really neat texture to your project. I sandwiched some batting between my print fabric and a piece of Texture Magic(on which I had drawn my design).  I sewed along my design lines with the sewing machine.  I then thoroughly steamed my piece with the Texture Magic side up and watched my texture appear.   Check out http://www.superiorthreads.com/ for instructions and other ideas!
I used the pattern "A Heavenly Textured Handbag" by EazyPeazy.  Check out web site for "Texture Magic" and patterns using "Texture Magic."

Bedrunners using precut Fabrics

Tired of having the same old quilt on your bed. Now you
can change it up by putting different bed runners on.  The
book "Bed Runners using Precut Fabrics"  has 10 different
bed runners you can make in a weekend.
I  used a layer cake from Moda called "Garden Party" for
this bed runner.  I love the buttons as the centre of the
flowers.  Book is $10.00 which is a really good deal!

"Shadowbox" Quilt

I made this quilt earlier this year using "Floragraphix"
fabric by "In the Beginning".
It was a big hit at the Creativ festival in Toronto!
Kits (including pattern) are available for $79.00.

Monster Pillow

This is my most favorite project that I have done this year, I think.  I had met the designer from "Don't Look Now" in Minnesota at Quilt Market.  She had travelled all the way from Australia.  Her patterns are absolutely adorable!  I purchased several of her patterns which you will find on the patterns page under pillows, wallhangings and quilts.  This pillow pattern is a bonus pattern in the "Monsters Quilt" pattern.  I will have kits made up shortly for the pillow, if anyone is interested.

Folded Rose Window

Another sample completed!  If you haven't tried any of Debbie Richards patterns you have to give it a go.  They are stunning and unique.  Everyone will be trying to figure out how you made it.  Patterns  are very easy to follow!  I made this Folded Rose Window using 2 fat quarters and 1 metre of black fabric.  (Pattern available on patterns page).

Ethan is 1 year old!

Ethan, my first grandchild just had his first birthday this month!  We celebrated with a "truck" cake carrying a load of m&ms.  He didn't really know what to make of all the excitement.

Winter Sampler Pillow

I have made the "Autumn" pillow and the "Summer" pillow by Crabapple Hill and now I have completed the "Winter" pillow.  This pattern is actually a sampler wallhanging but I wanted to continue on with my series of season pillows.  The kit contains the pattern, background fabric, 9 skeins of weeks embroidery thread and the bead and felt embellishments.
Here is a close up of the embroidery.  The kit sells for $32.00.

"Catch of the Day"

Here is the other tea cozy. It wouldn't let me publish both pictures at the same time.

Tea Anyone

I have just completed two more tea cozies from Bent Tree Hollow that I have made into kits; "Autumn Apple" ($29.00) and "Catch of the Day" ($35.00). I will put these up on the web site soon. Sharon, the designer has over 20 different tea cozies so I have only about 15 more samples to go!

Oops, missing block 5 of Le Jardin

I somehow missed putting the picture of Block 5 of Le Jardin on the blog. This is everyone's absolutely favorite block of the entire quilt. The little girl's dresses are so cute! I hope everyone if having fun with this Block of the Month? Anyone who still wants to join, just send me an e-mail. I believe I have 2 spots left.

I have alot of other new patterns and kits that I hope to have together soon. I just got back recently from the Quilt Market in Minnesota and I can't wait to make up samples of some of the new patterns I got! I also have some new fabric that's come in - Little Darlings (a black and white collection ) by Northcott; some Stonehenge from Northcott; Floragrahix IV from In the Beginning ( fabric with an Asian look in rust, orange and blue). Other fabric will be rolling in once it is released.

I hope to keep you updated a little more often. We'll see how that goes.

Spring is Here!

Happy Easter everyone! May we remember this day that Christ has died and risen for us!

The weather has been fantastic so I wanted to post something bright and colourful. This quilt is called "Twisting the Night Away". I used a Spring Magic layer cake by Moda. The pattern is in the book "Layer Cake, jelly roll and Charm Quilts." The kit is $73.00 for a 62" x 74" quilt. The book is $25.00

"Teacups" by Lakehouse

Lakehouse has the nicest feeling fabric! This fabric has a very soft blue dotted background with 7 different teacups in each row . There are 4 rows of teacups before the pattern is repeated. The price is $9.00 for the 24" of fabric with the 28 teacups.

"Canadian Cottage" by RJR fabrics

"Canadian Cottage" is gorgeous fabric designed by Robyn Pandolph for RJR fabrics. The colours are very subtle which is her style but what makes this fabric unique is that she has put canadian flags in her design. I won't be putting this fabric on the web site as it won't last long so if you are interested just e-mail me and I will see what I have available. Price is $13.00 a yard.

Bunny Hill Design - Le Jardin

Well, that didn't end up in the order I wanted! Here is the pattern cover and following are the 9 blocks with the description at the end. Sorry for the confusion! If you would like to start the block of the month just send me an e-mail or phone 519-676-5059. I will have the completed quilt done shortly with the borders I've chosen.

Le Jardin - Block of the Month

I just completed another Bunny Hill Design, " Le Jardin." Well, I haven't actually completed it. I've made the blocks and photograghed them separately so it will give you a visual if you would like to do the block of the month. I used fabric from Moda, Garden Party mostly instead of the fabric shown on the pattern. I wanted it to be "springy" and something that would fit into most home decor.
Here is how it works. The first month's block will be $25.00. Blocks 2-9 will be $15.00 each month. The borders and binding will be $35.00. At the beginning of each month I will send you the fabric, pattern and embellishments needed for that month's block. The postage is $2.50 each month with the border and binding postage being $7.00. I will bill your credit card each month unless you would like to make other arrangements. Work on it together with friends or on your own. It's great fun to get something in the mail each month.

The Sebago Bag

If you want to make a nice and easy tote, this is it. All it takes is one yard of prequilted fabric and 1/4 yd for trim. It's finished on the inside as well so it's reversible. I'm having trouble finding prequilted fabric so I think I may try to make my own. If I can machine quilt a lap quilt I can certainly quilt a yardof fabric. I purchased the fabric on one of my trips to Florida. Our home there has 2 quilt stores fairly close that I absolutely love to go too.
The pattern you will find on my web site.

What a cutie!

He is getting bigger! Ethan, our grandson is almost 8 months old. We got to spend lots of time with him in Florida recently. He was such a good boy!

Warm Winter Wishes

I wasn't going to post my wallhanging till it was quilted but I'm just not getting around to it yet. For those who bought the kit you'll need this to know what fabric goes where. This pattern is from Cottage Creek. The kit including pattern is $66.00.

Visual Arts

This fabric I used in this quilt is called "Visual Arts". It is very stunning in yellow and black! The pattern calls for 5 - one yard cuts. It does not matter what fabric you choose for your squares or borders, it always works out. There is even enough fabric for the binding. Pattern is free with fabric bundle. Fabric Bundle - $70.00
