New Projects for the New Year!

New fabric is piling into the shop!  I am definitely running out of room but I love inspiring everyone with new projects to work on.  Unfortunately I don't have the time I think I am going to have to make samples so I am posting some kits I have made up with the new fabric that has come in.

First I have Moroccan Tile made with Stonehenge fabrics from Northcott.

Also, new is "Garden View" using Wild Flowers from Northcott.  I have made the quilt but haven't had it machine quilted yet.

What I really need to be working on are baby quilts.  My daughter,Lindsay and her husband, Jared are expecting identical twin boys in January.  They will be brothers to 17 month old Ethan.   She is going to be busy so  I hope to go up to help her for a few weeks so I had better get organized.  Also, my boss at my dental hygiene job  has sold his dental practice to another dentist so I will have to get used to some changes there.  We have worked together for 26 years.
I will try to post some other new projects that I have been working on real soon.

Snap Happy II Bags

I just finished making 6 of these cute little bags from the Snap Happy II pattern for my daughter to give as gifts to her friends.  Some of them had travelled to Paris, France a few years ago with a school group.  I know that the Eiffel Towers are sideways but this way I could get 6 out of 1 yard of main fabric and 1 yard of contrasting fabric.  Using the metal measuring tapes for the "snap" opening is really cool!

"Winter Woolies" Flannel for Our Cold Winter Nights!

I love how this quilt turned out!  You never know when you use a combination of colours and patterns.
I used the pattern "Hopscotch" by the Quilt Patch (Canadian designer) and Maywood's Warm Winter Woolies flannel.  All you need is 12 fat 1/4's. ( I used a few more as I use yard fat 1/4's not metric fat 1/4's).  A narrow sashing, binding, backing and you are done! Kits are $62.00.(3.6m or 4yds of backing not included).  Size:  56" x 65". Kits ( including 15 fat 1/4's, binding and sashing) will be available soon.  Waiting for some more flannels to arrive.

Handbag Using Texture Magic

I got a chance to use a new product "Texture Magic" on a handbag.   It is really simple to use and adds a really neat texture to your project. I sandwiched some batting between my print fabric and a piece of Texture Magic(on which I had drawn my design).  I sewed along my design lines with the sewing machine.  I then thoroughly steamed my piece with the Texture Magic side up and watched my texture appear.   Check out http://www.superiorthreads.com/ for instructions and other ideas!
I used the pattern "A Heavenly Textured Handbag" by EazyPeazy.  Check out web site for "Texture Magic" and patterns using "Texture Magic."
